Notes for Queen Sibyl (Aelflaed) OF NORTHUMBRIA
Queen of Scotland282

Niece or sister of Siward of Northumbria, a powerful Viking warrior who, according to legend, was the product of the coupling of his mother with a white bear. Siward rose against MacBeth in favor of Malcolm, Duncan I’s son. Siward died in 1055, “complaining bitterly that he was not perishing in battle as he would have liked, but ignominiously and in peace ‘like a cow.’”292

May have been daughter of Bjorn Bearsson, sister of Siward Digera Earl of Northumbria.283
