John and Elizabeth married in Saratoga and then moved to Hamburg. John’s brother wrote a journal which tells of how they slept under the wagon and fought Native Americans. They bought land from the Hudson Bay company. Betsey’s parents followed them out to Hamburg. John owned a sawmill and farmed.
