Have bad microfiched copy of page 180 of Chicago Register of Births from 1881?, showing a Radloff child born to Fred and Louise (“Sagarth”) Radloff on the 10th day of the month (month not listed). Listed address as 3416 Auburn (Ave?), Ward 5. Father’s and mother’s nationality given as German. No ages given for either.
115Clearer record of the register of December 1894 shows an Edna Radloff born to Bertha Selewsky and “Jno”? (Johnathon?) Radloff, a laborer aged 28. First child of this mother. Residence at 3408 Auburn, near Fred and Louise. Date of birth 10 Dec 1894. Father’s nativity German, mother’s American. “Name of party attending and making return” looks like it could be Anna Hay on both registers.
Name variations: Ratleff, Rothlauf, Rudloff, Radlaff, Radliff, Rudloff, Ratliff
Chicago Voter Registration rolls of 1892 show Frederick Radlaff at 3410 Auburn Ave, District 2, Ward 6, Precinct 17. Birthplace Germany. Length of residence in precinct, county, and state are all 22 years. Naturalized citizen. “Date of papers” and “court of papers” (assume for naturalization) “not known.” Under “qualified voter”: yes. Date of application to be registered is 18 Oct 1892. Record shows he did vote.
116Same sheet shows a variety of other Radloffs: Bernard, Charles, Fred, Gust (?), Henry, John, John, and Otto. Of these, one of the John Radloffs resides at 3410 or 3413 Auburn Ave.
116Above would give us an immigration date of approximately 1870.
