Pilgrim Album/Edward Winslow

Married Susannah (Fuller) White after her husband, Mills ancestor William White, died during the first winter in Plymouth. Susannah and Edward's marriage was the first to occur in the colony and was officiated by Mills ancestor William Bradford. This is the only portrait of any of the Pilgrims. In Winslow's hand is a letter from Susannah. She must have written a lot; Edward spent most of his time travelling on official business of the colony and the King and eventually died in the King's service in the Caribbean. The Winslow house was designated a place to retreat to in case of attack; the Winslows and the White children were at the center of the political activity of the Colony. Millses are descended through Susannah and William's son Resolved White.
