Possible final resting place of Mills ancestor William White, who died during the first winter. The Pilgrims buried their dead on this hill in the middle of the night so the Wampanoag wouldn't know how many had died. In the 19th century many remains were disinterred and placed under this monument. Sorry about the big black hook! :-)
