Grave and monument to Elizabeth Plantagenet and Sir Humphrey de Bohun VIII, Earl of Hereford and Essex. Elizabeth died in 1316, Humphrey in 1321. Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward "Longshanks" Plantagenet of England, the king who enforced English rule over Wales and who fought against and eventually killed William "Braveheart" Wallace. Humphrey was taken prisoner at the Battle of Bannockburn, the battle won by Robert the Bruce which secured Scottish independence for another 300 years. This sarcophogus rests in Exeter Cathedral in England. The gesture of wife and husband holding hands is extremely rare in this type of statuary and may reflect the unusually caring relationship between the couple -- or may just be artistic license! The Bohuns are ancestors of the Hugheses, not Millses.
